The City Paper - Drew Walen

What did you think you'd be doing by this time in your life?
In some capacity exactly what I'm doing now. I've spent the last 25 years working in recording studios, originally as a studio musician (drums) and now as a producer. I love music and working with artists on their music and careers.
Finish this sentence, "I'd rather be drug through cactus naked than _____."
Having to listen to phonies/lightweights with no accomplishments or career credits talk about how important they are.
What quote guides your life?
"How can you go forward if you don't know what direction you're facing."
What's the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
My mother and father instilling a great work ethic, confidence and moral support for my career. Also Dolly Parton for hiring me for her TV show and first crossover album. It got me started in Nashville after my move from the Chicago studio/music scene.
If money were no object, what would you do or buy?
Live in the South of France overlooking the Mediterranean and follow the Grand Prix circuit through Europe.
What can't you go 24 hours without doing?
Reading something that educates, enlightens or humors me.
What day of your life would you like to live over again?
Driving in my car and hearing my drumming on a "hit" record for the first time.
Who is in your CD player these days?
Pete Yorn, Kasey Chambers, Incubus, Patty Griffin, The Strokes, Springsteen & Travis.
What would you like to do but are too chicken to try?
Bungee Jumping
What did God forget to include when he made you?
A lifetime membership to The Hair Club for Men
How do you want the world to remember you?
Hopefully someone who treated others as I would like to be treated. And also knew where to find a great restaurant/wine list in most cities.

Newcomer Charlie Floyd...

John Hendricks - U.S. Country

And newcomer Charlie Floyd brings back a "lost" element to Country Music -- the "Southern Fried Acoustic Country Rock" of the late 60's and early 70's. This guy is H-O-T! Looks great...Sounds great and hits the deck running with a truly fascinating album.
